Singing 3-Part Harmony…With Yourself!

I’m “importing” this post from my other venture called Home Brew Audio, which is all about showing folks how to record at home on their computer, and how to get the best quality out of what you’ve got, even if it’s only a PC mic going in to the factory sound card, and using the free software called Audacity.

This post is about how to sing 3-part harmony, just your voice, singing with itself, 3 times!  It’s pretty wild, but very cool!  Actually, there is no limit to the number of parts you can sing.  Do 4-part harmony, or more.  Turn yourself into a choir.  I turned myself into an abbey of chanting monks on Lisa Theriot’s Michaelmas Night (from her CD The Keys of Canterbury).

Jake just published an article at Ezine Articles on how to do one of the most amazing (to me anyway) things possible with multi-track recording at home.  That is: how to sing harmony with yourself.  As with all the early video tutorials at Home Brew Audio, you can do this with just stuff you probably already have around the house, namely, a PC, an mp3 player (just for the headphones/earbuds), and just about any microphone.  You can try this right now, in your home, without spending a dime!  Cool, huh?
